I think you should die your hair to a lighter color.

but i like a streak of brown or a platinum blonde, or something really unique.

but sometimes you have to mix up the colors to find a perfect color.

if i were you i would dye my hair a lighter color but if you don't want to do that then you should get brown highlights. not too light but not too dark.

Well for a natural look you should go for a shade of brown, a lighter brown than what you would normal pick. Since you said your hair is B-L-A-C-K if you pick a highlight that is dark you won't see any difference.
