Black hair dye gone wrong?

i dyed my hair today with a non permanent dye, and it was supposed to be black, but too much of the dye came out when i rinsed it out an hour later and now it is a very dark brown.

the brand i used was Schwartzkopf live

the colour it is now is pretty cool, but i just wanted to know why the black dye didn't work

Black hair dye gone wrong?

schwarzkopf live is PERMANENT, i don't understand just WHY it didn't work on your hair as black attaches itself and will develop on ANY haircolour whether previously coloured or natural. i can only think that you didn't mix the colour with the developer properly so the colour wasn't able to penetrate the hairshafts. but if you are happy with the colour you are at then i wouldn't worry.

Depends on what hair colour you have naturally.

I, myself, am a natural brunette, and dyeing my hair didn't work properly either. You need to have dark brunette hair to get the effect on the pack, and often they have guidelines.

Snap, that happened to my Daughter,

Schwartzkopf live is rubbish. My mate used it to dye her hair blue it lasted for 3 washes then went a dull grey.

I used a garnier black hair dye it works much better.

Bare in mind, black hair dyes DO fade inevitably to RED/BROWN after 4/5 months so be sure to refresh your colour. You should do anyway if you dye your roots every 8 weeks.

Considering the dye is dark and non-permenant, it was bound to lighten gradually. You may have overwashed it - did you shampoo after you rinsed? This may be one cause for it to fade immediately. Never shampoo directly after applying a rinse or semi permenant.

The other reason might be you have a light base to start with. People with mid-brown hair or darker would end up with a blacker result, whilst lighter shades may result in non-permenant dyes being translucent.

The only other reason might be that the brand itself makes weak or inferior dyes. I've never used Swartzkopf non-permenant haircolor, but if you followed the instructions on the pack, then it's the only other explanation.

Did you follow the preparation directions perfectly? Otherwise, there's your answer. I doubt "too much of the dye came out" when you rinsed it, because no matter what colour you dye your hair, the chemicals have to be rinsed off and it WILL look like all of it is going down the drain. However, if you mixed it properly and timed it right, that won't be the case.

I'm actually surprised that after an hour it didn't take. With most dyes, if you leave it on that long, you'll pretty much fry your hair. I don't recall ever seeing the instructions indicate 1 hour.

If, in a few months, you decide the color isn't really for you I suggest going down to Sally's and picking up Loreal Color Zap. It even cuts black, and you can redye to your natural color, or any other selection, immediately.

just so you know if you had yr hair dyed black in a salon you are stuck with that colour until it grows out or is cut.

Schwarzkopf live is a really good one.

The live products do tend to wash out quite a bit but they keep their colours quiter well.and watch out if yr going in a pool or sea.but really you need to go permanent for that kind of coverage
