Two toned hair for naturally black hair?

ok so i tried dying half my hair black cherry from revlon....and well my hair is still black... im not sure what i did wrong. could it be that i didnt leave it in long enough? or is it the brand? or should i leave it alone for awhile and hopefully thecolor will show? ive never colored my own hair before so im not entirely sure of what im doing

i'd just get it done professionally. it's hard to dye over black hair, so products from a department store probably aren't strong enough.

when i had black hair, i tried even BLEACHES to get it lighter, and that barely worked. but the salon got it really really blonde. so i'd just get it done professionally.

dont worry i face the samw problem

Dark hair is difficult to color. If its black then the only way to see any color would be by lightening it. Which I wouldnt do with box color. I would go to a salon. Box color is difficult to control. Good luck!

It could be that your hair is too dark...alot of times people have to lighten their darker hair and then add color for any color to show.

Maybe you didnt leave it in long enough? I also have black natural hair and i dye it myself with Garnier hair dye and without bleaching it turns brown. So I guess you dont always have to bleach.. anyways good luck
