Help I have dyed Brownish-Black hair with RED roots!?

My natural haircolor is dark brown. 5 months ago I had it professionally bleached blond, but it was too baby-chick-yellow for me. I was so disapointed with the hairdressers for not following my previous hairdressers instructions. So instead of having them darken my hair back to it's original color I decided to darken it myself. I used a black permanent haircolor so when my roots came in they would blend in better, but as the black color started washing out, the blond started comming through. I just wanted to blend it all together, but I didn't want to keep putting black on my hair (I wanted a more medium-dark brown) so I just put a permanent medium brown color on and my hair and it looks great except for the fact that my roots are now an orangish-red color!

Is there anyone out there that has some good advise on what can be done to fix my roots without putting black on my hair again?

Thank you to everyone who answers with good advise.

I think you should find a stylist that specializes in hair color correction. It's hard to give advice when I can not see your hair. This may sound confusing ,but you may need a different color on the root area then on the rest of the hair to make it all the same color because you have natural red pigment still in your new growth and not the bottom part. You will probably need a brunette color with green in the base for the root area, that will take away the red, but I do not think color that has green in the base should go on the rest of the hair. I hope you understand what I'm saying. Going over all the hair with a chocolate brown MIGHT work ,but the roots may still have more red,it might blend,it might not. Please go to a color specialist. It will probably be expensive, but will be even more expensive if you try to fix it your self and mess it up more. It can be fixed right now, but who knows if you mess with it again. Good luck

After bleaching your hair you must use a filler then the color. I recommend going to your hairdresser.

Just get a mate to dye your roots! You can buy root touch up kits for a few pounds. A medium brown should cover orange roots. If not you may need to use peroxide on the roots first and then dye them brown.

Corrective color is really touchy! I would say go to a stylist that you trust %26amp; let him/her fix it for you. You have to know what bases to put on the roots to counteract the red, and not get it on the ends or you'll end up with drab, muddy looking ends. I don't know how long ago the stylist gave you the baby chick look, but if I were you, I'd talk to the manager about getting my money back! There are a lot of products you can use to get that yellow out when bleaching hair, and that stylist should have known that before attempting to bleach your hair! Anyway, go to the salon, get the color fixed %26amp; stick with the same stylist who will have record of what he/she did and can repeat it the next time.
