Dye my black hair?

My hair is black, I want to dye it other colors like red, blond, or you know, but I was just wondering, since I alway goes to salon or hair place, and I sorta broke now. I really dont know if those hair dye at walmart work, and does it work on black hair at all, or do I have to bleach my hair?

Hey there. I have black hair too. My advice is to stick with a salon or else leave it alone. You have to bleach black hair to dye it another color, and the results can be HORRIBLE. Like, REALLY horrible! The bleach can really damage your hair, for one (in fact, it will certainly damage your hair -- the question is how badly), and could turn it orange. You can then put another dye over it, but the results are not necessarily going to look like the box (in fact, I can more or less guarantee that they won't). This is especially true if you go for a really drastic change, like going blonde or red. DON'T DO IT! You'll be wearing a hat for weeks, or else spending even more money than you would have in the first place having a professional fix it. Save your money and go to a salon! Keep in mind, though, that your new look will require tons of upkeep -- you have to keep going for root touchups every 4-6 weeks (depending on how fast your hair grows), or you'll have jet black roots that look crappy. My advice is to learn to love your black hair.

You can even get bleaching kits there, same price as any other hair color. Just be careful not to get too much on the scalp, it can burn.

if you wanna dye your hair into dark brown, buy dark BLOND hair dye and if you want light brown hair, buy light blond hair dye.

don't buy it based on the hair color of the box.

i once bought brown hair one and didn't work for my black hair at all.
